Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center

Dartmouth – Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) is a collaboration comprised of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic, Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and Dartmouth College (Dartmouth Medical School).  DHMC is New Hampshire’s only academic medical center, and only Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center.

The Patient Care Pavilion project at DHMC involved a 234,400 sf, five-story patient tower adjacent and connected to a fully occupied medical center.  The new building will add a total of 128+ inpatient beds for specialty and acute-care services with all patient rooms built to ICU standards.

The MEP systems for the Pavilion are designed and able to run stand-alone, along with full redundant chillers, air handlers, boilers, and pumps.  The heating system is primarily run off the campus CNG plant with a 20,000-gallon diesel fuel oil tank as a backup source. The electrical system has dual 2- Mega Watt generators for emergency power and a 2000 kVA double-ended unit substation for normal power.
